Manchester United’s struggles in the Premier League continued on Sunday as they fell to a disappointing 2-0 defeat against West Ham United at Old Trafford.

The result marked United’s 17th league loss of the season, a statistic that further highlights their inconsistency under Ruben Amorim.

The Red Devils looked lethargic and disjointed throughout the match, struggling to create clear-cut chances against a well-organised West Ham side.

Adding to United’s woes, manager Amorim was left deeply concerned over the fitness of Leny Yoro, who limped off the pitch against the Hammers.

Yoro appeared visibly emotional as he left the pitch, covering his face and limping after going down with an apparent foot injury, the same foot he previously broke and required surgery on earlier in the season.

United’s medical staff rushed onto the pitch to provide immediate attention, but after a brief assessment, it became clear that Yoro could not continue.

However, in a post-match interview, Amorim provided an encouraging update that would certainly lift the spirits of United supporters.

Amorim said: “We hope it’s nothing serious. We will assess the player but I think it is a small thing,” according to BBC Sport.

Despite the disappointing outcome for United, Yoro, alongside Amad Diallo, was one of the few bright spots in an otherwise lackluster team performance.

In recent weeks, Yoro has showcased significant growth, not only in his defensive responsibilities but also with his willingness to push forward and contribute to United’s attack.

With the Europa League final on the horizon, United fans are eagerly hoping for Yoro’s quick recovery, as his recent performances suggest he is destined to be a crucial figure in Amorim’s setup against Tottenham.

Further medical assessments are expected to provide clarity on Yoro’s fitness in the coming days. Until then, his participation in the Europa League final remains in doubt.

Manchester United were dealt a major injury concern as defender Leny Yoro limped off during their Premier League clash against West Ham United, just days before the Europa League final against Tottenham.

The 19-year-old centre-back, who has emerged as a pivotal figure in Ruben Amorim’s resilient three-man defensive setup, appeared to pick up the injury while attempting to pass back to goalkeeper Altay Bayindir.

Immediately clutching his leg and grimacing in pain, Yoro signaled to the bench, aware that something was wrong.

His early departure cast a shadow over United’s preparations for the final, with just 10 days left before the showdown in Bilbao, according to GOAL.

Yoro’s contribution to United’s European campaign has been nothing short of remarkable. His composure under pressure, combined with his sharp reading of the game, has solidified United’s defense throughout the tournament.

His potential absence from the final would be a massive setback for Amorim’s game plan, particularly against a Tottenham side boasting the likes of Son Heung-min and Dominic Solanke in attack.

As Yoro exited the field, visibly devastated with his shirt pulled over his head, Amorim could only shake his head in frustration.

The timing of the injury could not be worse for United, who have defied inconsistent league form to mount a remarkable run in Europe.

Amorim, who has been vocal about prioritising European success over domestic results, had previously indicated he would not hesitate to rest key players in Premier League matches to protect their fitness.

Speaking before the West Ham match, Amorim stated, “We have to be smart. We cannot take unnecessary risks with our players. If that means losing some matches in the league, then so be it. Our focus is on that final.”

Man United will hope Yoro will be back soon

Now, with Yoro’s status uncertain, Amorim faces the difficult task of reorganizing his backline for the most crucial game of the season.

Options include a straight swap with Maguire or a tactical shift that may involve Lindelof stepping into the role. There are also whispers of a potential formation change, with Amorim considering a back four if Yoro’s injury is confirmed to be serious.

United’s medical team is expected to run extensive tests to determine the severity of Yoro’s condition, with updates likely to be provided within the next 48 hours.

Jadon Sancho is currently on loan from Manchester United to Chelsea.

The English winger joined the Blues in a season long loan last year and Enzo Maresca’s team have the option to sign the player in a permanent move after this season.

However, according to The Mirror, they are not expected to make his move to Stamford Bridge permanent.

Chelsea’s decision not to sign Jadon Sancho permanently from Manchester United has introduced fresh uncertainty about the winger’s future.

As per a report by The Mirror, the Blues are prepared to pay a £5 million penalty to withdraw from a £25 million obligation to buy at the end of the season.

Sancho, who joined Chelsea on loan after a challenging spell at Old Trafford, failed to make a lasting impact during his time at Stamford Bridge.

His inconsistency, coupled with Chelsea’s desire to focus on other attacking options, led to the decision not to pursue a permanent deal. This move has reignited speculation around Sancho’s next destination, with his career now at a crossroads.

Jadon Sancho has no future at Man United

Man United, eager to offload the 25-year-old, are open to offers as they look to balance their squad and invest in other key areas.

This has paved the way for a potential return to the Bundesliga, where Sancho previously flourished at Borussia Dortmund. Reports suggest that both Dortmund and Bayer Leverkusen are monitoring the situation closely.

A return to Dortmund would be a natural fit for Sancho, given his successful stint there between 2017 and 2021. However, Sancho would be required to accept a significant pay cut from his current £250,000-a-week salary, which may pose a challenge for negotiations.

Leverkusen, last season’s Bundesliga champions, have also expressed interest, particularly with speculation surrounding the future of their star midfielder Florian Wirtz.

If Wirtz departs, Leverkusen could view Sancho as an ideal replacement to strengthen their attacking options.

In a break from tradition, Manchester United will step onto the pitch at Old Trafford against West Ham wearing a special one-off kit, according to Talksport.

Ruben Amorim’s men are set to don the unique design as part of a meaningful initiative aimed at supporting a global cause.

Instead of their regular sponsor, United’s men’s and women’s teams will wear kits featuring the branding of RED, an organization founded by U2’s Bono and Bobby Shriver.

RED partners with major global brands to raise awareness and funds to combat some of the world’s biggest crises, including AIDS and global pandemics.

This initiative is part of United’s ongoing partnership with their primary shirt sponsor, Snapdragon. As part of their agreement, the US technology firm has the right to nominate a charity to feature on United’s shirts for one match each season.

This year, they chose RED to highlight its mission of fighting preventable diseases across the globe.

To date, RED has generated over $785 million, reaching more than 320 million people with life-saving programs.

The organisation’s impact has been global, helping communities in need access essential medical services and support.

Man United’s involvement marks another major step in using football’s global platform for positive change.

The club’s decision to change their kit for the match against West Ham symbolises the club’s commitment to global impact beyond the pitch.

In a time when football is more influential than ever, leveraging that power for charitable initiatives is both admirable and necessary.

For the players, it is a chance to represent more than just club pride, it’s an opportunity to make a tangible difference.

As the Red Devils step out in their special-edition shirts, they will be carrying not just the hopes of their supporters, but also the promise of better health and opportunities for communities in need.

The reason why Andre Onana is not in the squad for Man United against West Ham

Manchester United goalkeeper Andre Onana has been rested for the Premier League showdown against West Ham United, with manager Ruben Amorim opting to preserve the shot-stopper for upcoming crucial fixtures.

Onana, who was part of the traveling squad for last week’s 4-3 defeat against Brentford but did not feature, will also miss United’s penultimate home match of the season, according to Manchester Evening News.

The 29-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper is being carefully managed as United prepare for their Europa League final against Tottenham Hotspur on May 21.

Amorim has made it clear that Onana is his preferred choice for the final, and resting him now is seen as a move to keep the goalkeeper fit and fresh.

Despite his absence in the league, Onana is expected to feature in United’s final Premier League game of the season against Chelsea next Friday, as per the report.

The fixture at Stamford Bridge will serve as a crucial warm-up before the Europa League showdown, allowing him to regain match sharpness without risking fatigue or injury.

With Onana rested, Turkish goalkeeper Altay Bayindir is set to make a start.

Although Bayindir has conceded eight goals in just two league appearances, Amorim remains confident in his ability to perform.

Third-choice goalkeeper Tom Heaton will be on the bench once again.

As United inch closer to their Europa League clash with Tottenham, Amorim’s management of squad fitness and match preparation could be crucial.

Securing a European trophy would mark a significant achievement for the club and potentially set the tone for next season’s ambitions.

With just ten days remaining in the Europa League final against Spurs in Bilbao, Spain, the decision that Amorim makes now could have a huge effect on the biggest match of the season for us.

Manchester United are set to ring the changes in their starting lineup ahead of Sunday’s Premier League fixture against West Ham.

The two clubs have been enduring a miserable league campaign, as they enter the contest in woeful 15th and 17th places respectively. They only managed to avoid a relegation dogfight thanks to the poor runs of Ipswich, Leicester and Southampton who return straight to back to the Championship.

Nevertheless, the Red Devils can at least wave this forgettable season goodbye with some silverware, and more importantly, gaining a spot in next season’s Champions League.

Ruben Amorim’s men managed to breeze past Athletic Club on Thursday night to book their place in the Europa League final against Tottenham on May 21.

With only ten days separating us from the big finale in Bilbao, the manager could be set to rest some of his players.

Nevertheless, Amorim insisted that only those who risk injuries will be dropped in the coming fixtures against West Ham and Chelsea, as he also wants to keep his key players active.

So how will Man United lineup for their upcoming clash at Old Trafford?

Man United expected starting lineup

Andre Onana should keep his place between the sticks, while Tyler Fredricson and Luke Shaw slot in at the back. It remains to be seen if the manager will rely on Harry Maguire in the central role, or opt for Victor Lindelof.

In midfield, Kobbie Mainoo and Manuel Ugarte should get the nod, while Casemiro gets some well-deserved rest. The same goes for Bruno Fernandes and Alejandro Garnacho, so Christian Eriksen could join Mason Mount in the attacking midfield roles behind Chido Obi-Martins

The latter produced a sensational cameo against Athletic, scoring a fabulous brace off the bench, which earned him high praise from Amorim who hailed him as the ‘perfect’ player for this role.

Hence, the returning Amad Diallo might have to settle for the right-wingback spot to make way for Mount, while Harry Amass occupies the other flank.

Manchester United manager Ruben Amorim was the architect behind yet another Europa League comeback at Old Trafford, and it all stemmed from a late change of heart.

Although it wasn’t as dramatic as the surreal come-from-behind against Lyon in the quarter-finals, the Red Devils enjoyed a remarkable late uprising against Athletic Club in the semi-final.

The Premier League giants were already riding a healthy three-goal advantage thanks to a 3-0 win in the first leg in Bilbao. Nevertheless, doubt suddenly crept into the minds of the OT home supporters when Mikel Jauregizar beat Andre Onana with a long-range rocket at the half-hour mark.

Nevertheless, Amorim managed to steer the team back on the right track, and it all began with a triple substitution in the 62nd minute.

As a circulating video on social media shows, the Portuguese was initially planning a double substitution, only bringing in Luke Shaw and Amad Diallo for Noussair Mazaraoui and Alejandro Garnacho, while telling Mason Mount he must wait further in the dugout before getting his chance.

However, Amorim swiftly changed his mind, recalling the former Chelsea star, bringing him in alongside Shaw and Amad.

The England international replaced Manuel Ugarte, and the rest, as UtdXclusive puts it, ‘is history’.

Mason Mount was Amorim’s winning card against Athletic Club

Mount turned out to be the match-changing introduction for United.  It took him 10 minutes on the pitch to equalise the scoring on the night with a delightful finish at the back post following a superb backheel set-up.

Casemiro and Rasmus Hojlund then each scored a goal, before Mount returned to put an exclamation mark on a sensational cameo with a jaw-dropping finish from 45 yards out.

It remains to be seen if this formidable display can catapult Mount in the pecking order and earn him a starting spot in the UEL final against Spurs on May 21. This would be a great way to finish what has been an injury-riddled campaign for the attacking midfielder.

Manchester United are reportedly plotting a move for Newcastle United midfielder Sandro Tonali, at least if they manage to qualify for the Champions League.

The Red Devils are primarily focused on bolstering their attacking department this summer. They are reportedly ‘very close’ to sealing a deal with Matheus Cunha, while an out-and-out striker could follow suit.

Nevertheless, INEOS should also address other departments, including the middle of the park. For instance, Christian Eriksen has all but confirmed his exit at the end of the season. The Dane’s contract will expire in June, and the club has no intention to retain his services.

Moreover, Casemiro’s future remains up in the air, while Bruno Fernandes has been forced to work extra shifts, something that could eventually take its toll on his physical condition, especially after surpassing the age of 30.

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via TuttoMercatoWeb), Man Utd are keeping close tabs on Tonali. The Roman newspaper claims that the Reds would be willing to splash £85 million to convince Newcastle to part ways with their prized asset.

The report notes that this plan could only materialise by winning the Europa League, which would unlock additional funds guaranteed by participation in the next edition of the Champions League.

The fall and rise of Sandro Tonali

The 24-year-old joined the Magpies on a deal worth £59 million in the summer of 2023. After spending the bulk of the previous campaign on the sidelines due to a playing suspension stemming from illegal betting, he has managed to prove his worth this season, striking a superb midfield trio with Joelinton and Bruno Guimaraes.

The Italian has been described as ‘technically flawless’, but he also boasts a combative spirit, rendering him the perfect depiction of a modern Premier League midfielder.

Therefore, Tonali would certainly be a great addition to Ruben Amorim’s squad. However, it should be noted that Juventus are also keen to bring the former Brescia and Milan midfielder to Serie A, identifying him as the ideal profile to bolster their midfield ranks.

Fabrizio Romano highlights the main hurdle that could impede Manchester United’s attempts to land Victor Osimhen.

The Red Devils are determined to sign a top-notch striker who can be an upgrade on Rasmus Hojlund. While they are reportedly ‘very close’ to securing an agreement with Matheus Cunha, the latter is considered more of a Number 10 than a centre-forward.

Over the past few months, the Red Devils have been linked with a host of potential profiles for the role, including the likes of Viktor Gyokeres, Liam Delap and Jean-Philippe Mateta. Nevertheless, despite denials from some reputable sources, Osimhen’s name has persisted, with a section of fans and observers identifying him as the ideal candidate for the role.

Man Utd continue to follow Osimhen

The Nigerian will end a successful loan stint at Galatasaray in June, but he won’t rejoin his parent club Napoli, as the two parties are keen to part ways due to their poor relationship.

In his latest video update uploaded on YouTube, Romano confirms Osimhen is set to leave Napoli for good in the summer, but he explains why Premier League clubs could once again struggle to land him.

Romano reveals biggest Victor Osimhen issue

The Italian journalist points out the player’s €12-million per year salary as the real issue that could hamper the striker’s transfer to England, as EPL clubs could struggle to match these figures under the Profitability and Sustainability Rules.

Romano recalls how this same issue plagued Chelsea’s attempts to land the 26-year-old last summer.

Therefore, Saudi Pro League clubs might be better positioned to land Osimhen at this stage, and the same goes for Juventus who are reportedly willing to shell out €85 million to buy the striker.

It should be noted that the player’s release clause is worth €75 million, but it remains unclear if a Serie A club can activate it or only foreign clubs.

Manchester United striker Joshua Zirkzee leaves the door open for a possible return from injury ahead of the Europa League final against Tottenham.

The Dutchman’s rollercoaster first campaign at Old Trafford supposedly came to an abrupt end after suffering an injury last month.

The 23-year-old had managed to gain the affection of the Red Army after a turbulent start to the season and a forgettable episode against Newcastle United.

A season of highs & lows for Joshua Zirkzee

Zirkzee has only managed to score seven goals since making the £36 million transfer from Bologna last summer. Nevertheless, his slick touch and hardworking ethics made him a regular starter in Ruben Amorim’s lineup and a fan favourite at OT.

Sadly for the Netherlands international, a thigh injury ruled him out of action in recent weeks, while his manager declared that his campaign is already over.

And yet, Zirkzee has now announced that a swift return to the pitch could be on the cards, albeit it remains difficult.

Zirkzee doesn’t rule out Europa League final return

The striker revealed as much after receiving a call from his former Bayern Munich teammate Alphonso Davies while the latter was live on Twitch.

Zirkzee apparently told the Canadian left-back that he is trying hard to make his return ahead of the Europa League final is, which is difficult but not impossible.

Therefore, Amorim was likely on point in his initial assessment, but it remains to be seen if the Netherlands international can stun the supporters by receiving a call-up for the big finale.

On the other hand, Matthijs de Ligt, Ayden Heaven and Diogo Dalot are significantly more likely to recover in time for United’s most important fixture in the 2024/25 campaign.

The Red Devils will clash heads with domestic rivals Spurs in the tournament finale which will be held in Bilbao on May 21.

Manchester United are enticed by the prospect of signing their former academy player, Angel Gomes, but will likely face stern competition for his services.

The 24-year-old is an England international of Angolan and Portuguese origins. He joined Man Utd’s academy at a tender age, honing his skills at Carrington before leaving the club as a free agent in the summer of 2020.

Since then, Gomes has been on the books of LOSC Lille. The midfielder spent the 2020/21 campaign on loan at Boavista, before rejoining the ranks of the Ligue 1 side.

The London native has established himself as a pillar for the French club. His former manager, Paulo Fonseca, described him as the most intelligent player in the team.

Therefore, CaughtOffside reveals that at least six clubs are vying for the services of the Englishman who will be a free agent in the summer, including his former employers, Man Utd.

Man Utd & Spurs battling for Gomes

As the source explains, the Red Devils could decide to launch an onslaught to bring the diminutive midfielder back to Carrington.

Nevertheless, United would have to overcome competition from Tottenham who emerged as one of the main protagonists in this race.

In addition to Man Utd Spurs, the report names another two Premier League suitors in Everton and Crystal Palace, while Juventus and Napoli represent his Serie A options.

Angel Gomes enduring complicated campaign at Lille

This season, the midfielder’s campaign has been impeded by injuries, while his refusal to sign a new contract has prompted Lille to drop him from their recent outings. Hence, Gomes has only made 20 appearances this term, contributing with two goals and one assist.

It should be noted that the England international primarily plays as an attacking midfielder, but can also feature in a deeper role.

Gomes isn’t the only contract rebel at Lille, as his teammate Jonathan David is also set to embark on a new career chapter after refusing to pen an extension.

Manchester United still have a good chance at landing Victor Osimhen in the summer despite being outbid by Juventus.

The Nigerian is currently playing his football on loan at Galatasaray, but is unlikely to dwell in Istanbul beyond his current loan spell.

The 26-year-old will thus return to Napoli, but his broken rapport with the hierarchy of the Serie A leaders means he’ll be looking to leave for good in the summer.

Therefore, the Lagos native has emerged as one of the most sought-after stars in the market, even though his costly price tag and high wage demands render him unattainable for many.

But despite their financial difficulties, Juventus are keen to land the former Lille star. The Bianconeri’s current Director of Football, Cristiano Giuntoli, was the one who brought Osimhen to Italy in the first place during his time at Napoli.

Juventus hellbent on landing Victor Osimhen

According to Il Corriere dello Sport (via TuttoJuve), the Serie A giants have launched a bid worth €85 million to prise Osimhen to Turin.

As the source explains, the striker’s contract with Napoli includes a €75 million release clause, but it is only valid for clubs outside Italy.

Nevertheless, the Roman newspaper believes that Juventus might fail in their attempts to land their primary transfer target despite submitting an offer that exceeds the value of the buyout clause.

Why Juventus could fail to sign Osimhen despite outbidding Man Utd

It should be noted that Juventus and Napoli share one of the most heated rivalries in Italian football, dating back to the 1980s, when Michel Platini and Diego Maradona used to compete for the Scudetto title.

This rivalry also took several interesting turns in recent years, so Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis would be loath to sell his prized asset to the northern Italian giants.

The report thus insists that Napoli would be willing to accept a lower bid, just to sell Osimhen to a foreign club. Hence, Man Utd remain in a strong position to secure the player’s signature, and the same goes for Saudi Pro League suitors, even though the player’s desire will be a key factor in the equation.

Man United are currently courting several strikers as they look to bolster their attacking ranks, including the likes of Liam Delap and Jean-Philippe Mateta, but Osimhen arguably remains the most intriguing profile on the shortlist.

The post Juventus launch €85m onslaught for Osimhen, but Man United still have the upper hand appeared first on Stretty News.

Manchester United are reportedly willing to part ways with Alejandro Garnacho who remains a transfer target for Chelsea.

The 20-year-old is a natural winger who found his niche in Erik ten Hag’s 4-2-3-1 formation, but struggled to carve himself a starting role in Ruben Amorim’s 3-4-2-1 system, only breaking into the starting XI due to an injury crisis as well as the lack of back-up options in attack.

Paul Scholes recently commented on the matter, noting how the Argentinian isn’t a natural Number 10, and cannot play at wingback either. Hence, the legendary United midfielder ‘fears’ that INEOS will decide to sacrifice Garnacho, only for the youngster to go and find success elsewhere, thus filling the Red Devils with great regret.

According to TBR,  Garnacho’s next destination could be Chelsea, as the West Londoners remain in contact with the player’s entourage.

The winger’s agent had raised eyebrows in January when making an appearance at Stamford Bridge and insisting on capturing the moment with a social media post. But while a mid-season transfer never materialised, a summer move could be more plausible.

Nevertheless, the source reveals that Garnacho isn’t on top of Chelsea’s shortlist for the left winger role. In fact, the report identifies Borussia Dortmund teenager Jamie Bynoe-Gittens as the club’s priority target, followed by Athletic Club’s Nico Williams, whereas the Man Utd star is only the third name on the list.

Man United already have a replacement for Garnacho

While it remains to be seen if the stars will align for Chelsea and Garnacho, the source insists that Man United are willing to offload the ‘special’ star in the summer, especially if they manage to finalise the transfer of Matheus Cunha.

The Brazilian is reportedly ‘very close’ to agreeing a transfer to Old Trafford, while INEOS can simply activate his £62.5 million release clause instead of negotiating a transfer fee with Wolves.

The 25-year-old is versatile enough to cover almost any role in the final third, but he’s widely tipped to slot in as a left attacking midfielder, which is the position currently occupied by Garnacho.

The post Man United ‘ready to sanction’ the sale of ‘special’ star as EPL giants revive contact appeared first on Stretty News.

Manchester United must decide what to do with their revitalised veteran Casemiro sooner rather than later.

The Brazilian has been playing his football at Old Trafford since making the £60-million transfer from Real Madrid in the summer of 2022.

Although he managed to prove his worth on some occasions over the past two campaigns under Erik ten Hag, his performances were a far cry from his dominating displays in the Spanish capital.

Casemiro also began his campaign on a torrid note, looking completely out of sorts during some of his early outings, especially in the 0-3 defeat to Liverpool at Old Trafford.

How Casemiro revived his Man United career

At the start of the year, Ruben Amorim decided to drop the experienced star from the starting lineup in favour of the young Jack Colyer, but an injury crisis gifted the veteran a new opportunity, and he has certainly made the most out of it.

The Brazilian has put together a series of superb displays in the middle of the park, and his ‘colossal’ performance in the epic comeback against Lyon will go down as one of the most brilliant individual heroics witnessed at Old Trafford in recent years.

Man Utd urged to act swiftly

So according to Trivela, Man Utd must make a decision regarding the player’s automatic contract extension ‘as soon as possible’.

While the management would have offloaded the midfielder in the blink of an eye last January, the situation has drastically changed now, especially with Ruben Amorim admitting that the player is now ‘undroppable’.

Therefore,  INEOS are told they must make a quick decision. United can activate their option to extend the player’s contract until June 2027, or risk losing him for a relatively low transfer fee in the summer.

Nevertheless, it should be noted that the biggest issue looming over the whole saga is the player’s hefty salary. Casemiro currently earns around £350,000 per week.

The post “As soon as possible” – Man United preparing to make major contract decision on ‘colossal’ star appeared first on Stretty News.

In perhaps one of the more unexpected deals of the summer transfer window, Manchester United are poised to extend Tom Heaton’s stay at the club.

As things stand, the veteran would be bidding farewell to United at the end of June when his current deal expires, along with Christian Eriksen, Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans.

However, the Red Devils’ coaching staff have ‘pushed’ for Heaton’s tenure to be extended as they are ‘delighted’ with the impact he has on the younger players around Carrington.

The latest on Heaton’s future

Fabrizio Romano confirmed this afternoon that United have now ‘decided to open talks’ with the experienced shot-stopper over a one-year agreement, which will see him tied to Old Trafford until the end of the 2025/2026 campaign.

He will continue as Ruben Amorim’s third-choice between the sticks, although Heaton has yet to feature since the new boss took the reins last November. In fact, he has only played three times since returning to his boyhood team in 2021.

How Heaton has fared throughout his Old Trafford tenure

Heaton’s first stint as a Red saw him work his way through the academy before progressing to the senior ranks. In total, he spent eight years in M16, being sent on various loan spells throughout. The 39-year-old then signed for Cardiff City in 2010 and has since represented Bristol City, Burnley and Aston Villa.

The three-capped England international was also called up by Gareth Southgate to work directly with the Three Lions’ goalkeeping contingent, consisting of Jordan Pickford, Dean Henderson and Aaron Ramsdale, at Euro 2024.

His most recent appearances for United came in two League Cup matches in 2022/2023; Erik ten Hag utilised the shot-stopper in a quarter-final tie against Charlton Athletic and the second leg of the semi-finals at home to Nottingham Forest.

Manchester United are waiting in the wings to see if they can pip Bayern Munich to the signing of soon-to-be-free agent Jonathan Tah.

While not INEOS’ priority heading into the window, unlike forwards, reinforcements in the backline will be essential at Old Trafford this summer due to the impending departures of Victor Lindelof and Jonny Evans, both of whom will bid farewell to the club when their contracts expire next month.

As such, United are currently scouring the market for any cut-price signings, with Tah, who will leave Bayer Leverkusen in the coming weeks, a name on the shortlist.

Tah enjoyed a tremendous 2024/2024 term

The stalwart centre-half has enjoyed 10 years with Leverkusen following a move from Hamburg in 2015. It’s allowed him to ply his trade in his native Germany, whilst also earning 35 caps for the national team since 2016.

He played an integral role at the heart of Xabi Alonso’s squad last season as they oversaw an emphatic invincible title-winning campaign. They conceded only 24 goals throughout, highlighting just how significant a role Tah, whom Alonso hailed as ‘one of the world’s best’ in his position, and his defensive counterparts played.

How Tah’s situation could pan out in the coming weeks

Such stellar form didn’t go unnoticed by his suitors, especially by Bayern Munich, who could only watch on as they went trophyless for the first time since 2012.

The Bundesliga giants have had their sights set on Tah for several months now, even going as far as reaching an agreement for his switch to the Allianz Arena last summer. However, in the event a deal fails to materialise, United are keeping tabs from afar in hopes of snapping up the 29-year-old.

German football expert Christian Falk shared his understanding of the situation in his CF Bayern Insider column. He explained: “Many clubs are following Jonathan Tah, including Premier League sides. Still, we shouldn’t overlook the fact that Bayern Munich had an agreement in the pipeline last summer, and now he’s set to become a free agent.

The Bayern Insider: Jonathan Tah opportunity ahead of crunch Eberl transfer meeting

“It would be easier to bring him in now, and Bayern have made it clear that they need a new centre-back with Eric Dier set to join Monaco this summer. So Bayern Munich will look to try and get him.

“Manchester United, who have been linked with Tah, is always going to be a serious competitor. I think Jonathan Tah would like to have an experience in the Premier League. There aren’t so many clubs searching in this position, so, of course, United is an opportunity.”

Had events panned out differently, he’d have been lining up for his boyhood club to help get them over the line on May 21 in Bilbao.

The forward still faces a hugely uncertain future at Old Trafford, with recent reports suggesting that the prospect of him restarting his Red Devils career is not entirely off the table, albeit very unlikely.

Aston Villa have the option – not obligation – of signing Rashford permanently upon the culmination of his loan spell next month. He undoubtedly impressed in the appearances he made prior to his injury setback, although it remains to be seen if Unai Emery and Co. will deem his displays quality enough to warrant a £40 million payout to United.

If not, it’s thought the Carrington graduate, whose sale would generate straight profit for the Reds, is keen on plying his trade in La Liga with Barcelona. However, their ever-precarious financial situation would make any deal hard to come by, and it’s not as if they’re short on prolific attacking talent in their ranks.

Nonetheless, Rashford departed United without having a bad word to say about how his situation unravelled; he fell entirely out of favour under Ruben Amorim and was exiled from the team for a month leading up to his exit.

He has frequently interacted with the players on social media, more recently praising Amad following the Ivorian’s ‘scintillating’ cameo off the bench against Athletic Club last night.

Amad uploaded a picture of himself celebrating to Instagram, captioned: “See you in Bilbao”, to which Rashford commented: “Baller”.

Matheus Cunha is mulling over his ideal destination to spend the 2025/2026 campaign and beyond following his impending Molineux exit.

The Wolverhampton Wanderers talisman has garnered interest from a host of clubs across the Premier League in recent months, with Manchester United viewed as frontrunners to seal his signature come the summer. Arsenal and Newcastle United are said to be ‘still in the race’, however.

That’s according to Ben Jacobs, who adds that Arsenal Sporting Director Andrea Berta plans to meet with Cunha’s camp in the coming days in an attempt to gauge where his head’s at ahead of potentially making him an offer over personal terms.

What’s being said about United’s move for Cunha?

Any deal for the forward poses to be as straightforward as can be due to the £62.5 million release clause that becomes active upon the culmination of 2024/2025.

The Brazilian international has ‘already agreed to the sporting project’ at Old Trafford and negotiations over the financial components of his exit are ‘ongoing’. United are reportedly adamant about advancing in their pursuit as swiftly as possible to avoid ‘any surprises’.

Cunha, 25, has recorded a tremendous 15 goals and six assists in his 30 league appearances this season. He has proven integral to Wolves retaining their top-flight status for another year following a turbulent start, and his hefty release clause will allow the club to reinvest and find his successor early on in the window.

Back in November, Micah Richards hailed the player’s ‘sensational football IQ’, so Ruben Amorim will be crossing his fingers that Cunha can replicate such top-drawer performances if and when he’s donning the red, white and black of the 20-time champions.
